How to Use NEET 2025 Answer Key to Estimate Score?
Before the results, candidates often use the official answer key to estimate their probable score. Here’s how:
Formula:
Total Marks = (Number of Correct Answers × 4) – (Number of Incorrect Answers × 1)
NTA awards +4 marks for every correct answer and deducts 1 mark for every incorrect one. Unanswered questions carry no marks.
Important Notes on Answer Key Changes
NTA has clarified that they will not send individual updates regarding the status of objections raised on the provisional NEET 2025 answer key. However, any accepted changes will be reflected in the final answer key, which will be published along with the results.
What Happens If a Question Is Incorrect or Has Multiple Answers?
According to NTA’s marking guidelines:
-
If more than one option is correct, all candidates who chose any of the correct options will receive +4 marks.
-
If all options are correct, every candidate who attempted the question will be awarded +4 marks.
-
If a question is dropped or incorrect, all candidates, regardless of whether they attempted it or not, will be given +4 marks.
Negative Marking: Be Careful of Multiple Answers
Even if one of your selected answers is correct, selecting more than one option for a question will result in negative marking. This is important to note to avoid unnecessary deductions.
